Learning to Celebrate: Overcoming the Drive for Constant Achievement

Learning to Celebrate: Overcoming the Drive for Constant Achievement

If there’s one area I have a really hard time with (and clearly there is more than one) it’s slowing down to enjoy a milestone. Or a season of “cruising.” I don’t easily Celebrate.

If you’re wired like me, there is too much self-value tied to achievement. So slowing down to celebrate isn’t something we enjoy doing. Because we want to feel valued. And moving to the next project is the best way to stay in motion. To stay, well… valuable. But we are missing out on important reasons to Celebrate.

Celebrate Wins.
Celebrate Big.
Celebrate Often.

Personally, I’ve gotten better over the years. I’ve done some deep work to understand that I’m valuable without achievement. And that stopping to Celebrate isn’t considered lazy. And I’m better for it (just ask my team).

What is something you can Celebrate this week?
