The Weight of Being the Strong One

The Weight of Being the Strong One

The Weight of Being the Strong One

Sometimes people say, “You’re so strong,” and it doesn’t feel like a compliment—it feels like pressure.

It’s Not Weakness

I’ve played the role of the strong one so often I forgot I didn’t have to. Letting myself cry, ask for help, or take a break wasn’t weakness. It was wisdom.

• Acknowledge the Pressure.

• Let Go of the Role.

• Redefine Strength.

Know When You Can’t

Strength isn’t about holding it all together. It’s about knowing when you can’t—and being honest anyway.

Reflection

Where are you pretending to be okay when you’re really not?
